The Chelsea Arts Club is a private members Club for artists in the heart of London. Established in 1891 by the artist James Abbott McNeill Whistler, the Club has occupied the same house in Old Church Street since 1902.

In 2014 Christian Furr- in his capacity as a member of council and the hanging committee, conceived of the idea to get a collection of artists to paint on plates in order to raise funds for AGBI (Artists General Benevolent Institution) and the Chelsea Arts Club Trust (CAC Trust). Furr is also on the board of AGBI – one of the oldest charities in Britain based at the Royal Academy and founded by JMW Turner

Steve Thomas conceived of the theme ‘Blue is’. Some of the artists that Christian invited to take part included Yoko Ono; Bruce McLean; Gavin Turk; Bill Wyman; Dan Baldwin; David Inshaw; Stephen Walter and more.
